Family,
Hey what's up y'all, how are you guys doing?? Everything here is chill, except for the weather. A brisk 100+ every day, but we keep working hard! The saving grace is that in Villa Bonita, there are a ton of trees on the main street that provide shade. But there's also a hot wind that comes in and carries a ton of super fine desert dust right into your eyes and ears and mouth, but it makes it worth it because we are working hard and finding lots of people. That's so cool that you guys are looking for, and finding some really good missionary opportunities. Really when you think about it, there could be no greater favor that we can do for someone else, than to help them find out that Christ`s restored gospel is here for them. Obviously its easier said than done, but the Lord will bless us as we truly seek to be missionaries.
This week we started out with my comp talking to his family for the first time in his mission and so he was really excited, it was fun to watch that and hear bits and pieces and be reminded of my call just 2 days before, haha. Other than that, it's been a really normal week as far as our every day routine. We had some really cool experiences though, and met some awesome people. On Wednesday we went with a less active couple in our area, and as we showed up we met another man who was there borrowing something from the couple. We talked to him, and he asked the family if it was okay if he stayed to listen to us and they obliged. So we taught him, his name is Victor and he is now reading the Book of Mormon and went to church with us and has a baptismal date for June 11th. Later that day, we found two other families who had very similar success on the very first visit with them, although they didn't go to church, so we will see how it turns out. But I'm excited to see what happens. Ricardo came to church and is getting baptized next week, and is very excited as well. I liked the story of your friend and her husband. I've heard and seen lots of stories of people who describe themselves as the hardest of hearts, or the biggest atheists or any number of things, but they come around and the Lord touches their hearts. So never rule anyone out for being that way!
So Mom, the Downs are senior missionaries who work in the offices. They speak very basic Spanish, but we always speak English with them. They remind me a lot of Grandma and Grandpa because this is their second mission together. And Elder Downs had previously served in France, then they served in Argentina together, now they're here. The missionary service is always a sacrifice but it brings blessings. I'm always super glad to know that I have other family members who are doing the same thing I'm doing.
So that's cool that you got to see your sisters this weekend. I'm really excited to have Ashley and Brian living in Reno, although my days living there are probably pretty limited, but it will be sick to be able to see more family when we go back over vacations and stuff. I'm sure you're excited with that change, and also with such little time left in the school year! At the end of the next one you will have to prepare my bedroom and start buying me clothes and stuff, so enjoy this peaceful end while you can haha. I feel like in anything, we go about maturing and finding new ways of doing stuff and just settling in more with your new teaching position. But I'm glad that you're gonna finish this year strong. I love you all and miss you lots, it's crazy that my 11 month mark is almost here! The time goes by fast. But I love you all and we`ll talk more next week!
